Whether you're planning an anniversary getaway, romantic weekend, fall foliage escape, or simply a quiet retreat in nature, the Hobbit House will offer an experience unlike a traditional hotel or cabin rental.
Inside the Hobbit House
This custom-designed earth-sheltered home will feature one bedroom and one bathroom and will accommodate a maximum of two guests.
The bright solarium-style living space will bring the outdoors in with expansive windows overlooking the surrounding woods. Here you'll find the indoor jacuzzi tub, private infrared sauna, comfortable seating, fireplace, entertainment area and access to the backyard patio.
The bedroom will be one of the most distinctive spaces in the house, featuring a dramatic custom king size tree bed, an oversized round window with a cozy reading nook and access to the backyard patio.
A fully equipped kitchen will make it easy to prepare breakfast, enjoy dinner together, or settle in for an evening without ever needing to leave your private retreat.

A Unique New Hampshire Getaway in Every Season
Building Something Different — and More Sustainable
Bringing our Hobbit House to life takes a builder willing to think outside the box — and honestly, it took us a while to find someone as innovative (and maybe just a little as crazy!) as we are. We found that in Stas of Maximus Consult & Develop, whose team specializes in innovative, sustainable and earth-covered construction.
We're especially proud that our Hobbit House will be the first home in New England built using this innovative sustainable building system. One of our favorite parts of the process is knowing that plastics cleaned from our oceans are recycled and transformed into the reinforced structural insulated panels that form the shell of our home. Those panels create the curved, earth-sheltered structure that gives the Hobbit House its signature look. The exterior is then insulated, waterproofed and covered with earth before being finished with a living grass roof.
We love knowing that something once polluting our oceans is becoming part of a truly one-of-a-kind place where guests will make memories for years to come.
From coordinating this unique building system to helping turn our unconventional design ideas into reality, Stas and his team are playing an important role in creating a retreat unlike anything else in New England and we are having so much fun doing it!

A Hobbit House Years in the Making
The Hobbit House has been years in the making.
We've spent more than five years dreaming about and designing this unique Belleau Lake retreat, carefully planning everything from the curved architecture and handcrafted doors to the furnishings and overall guest experience.
Since 2018, we've welcomed guests to our vacation rentals in the Belleau Lake area and have loved creating memorable New Hampshire getaways. The Hobbit House is the next chapter — and our most unique property yet.
We can't wait to share it with you!
